Concentrate solar power from the ground on to a single point on the rocket, and heat water or something similar to let it escape. This would be very difficult to do, and in fact, wouldn't really be any more efficient than just using a chemical rocket. It would also require very accurate tracking, and large mirrors, to make it work.Still good enough to think about
